Phyllostachys vivax
Big and tall, up to 8m, with thick green culms P. vivax is one of the largest and most impressive of all hardy bamboos. It is often misnamed, so beware of plants named P. vivax that are actually something much more benign. It doesn't produce as many culms as most other Phyllostachys, but those that it does make up for it! Vivax by name, vivacious by nature. This is one of the biggest growers for the British Isles and a fast performer.
